If you have broken your dentures don’t panic, help is at hand.
Denture repairs are often needed at the most inconvenient of times, but don’t worry we endeavour to provide a one hour express turnaround service, to help you on your way from just £55.00.
No appointment is necessary, we have a walk in clinic for all emergency repairs. ( Unfortunately, bookings are required for this service during Covid-19 times and there may be small delays on the one hour turnaround time. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.)
We also provide an emergency out of hours service for denture repairs. Please contact Amanda Benson on 07540 294330 for further details.
Most standard denture repairs can be done within the hour, however some denture repairs can be more complicated and an impression may be required, this can take a little longer.
If your dentures have broken in use, i.e. eating or biting, no matter how soft the food, then something has changed with your denture function.
As time passes, your gums will shrink and change shape, this usually takes a number of years to occur, however in some cases, can happen much quicker. When this happens, your dentures no longer fit correctly, so when biting, incorrect pressures are exerted onto the dentures which leads to cracks, or complete fracture of the denture.
Simply repairing the denture will not correct the problem, a technical diagnosis is needed to determine the required treatment necessary.
If this problem is left to persist your dentures may break again.
If your dentures are not thoroughly worn out then it may be possible to reline (re-fit) your dentures, in most cases this usually solves the problem, depending upon the wear of the posterior (back) teeth and can be completed while you wait, or within the day. We recommend refitting every 3 years, as ill fit causes increasing denture movement, which will wear the denture away more rapidly.
If your dentures are over five years old then it may be necessary to have a replacement set made, as the occlusal surfaces (chewing) may be worn out.
You can book an appointment for a free consultation to assess this at reception.
Please note that, in some cases, the cause of the denture breakage can be more complicated.
If you require any further information or advice, please book a free consultation, without any obligation, and one of our technicians will advise you of the appropriate steps to be taken.
